Certificates and extracts: Extract from the register of births

Birth is proved by an extract from the register of births, but for nationals of the Republic of Slovenia, the extract also proves nationality and personal status.

The civil register contains entries of all births of Slovenian citizens in the Republic of Slovenia or abroad and all births of foreign citizens that occurred in the territory of the Republic of Slovenia.

You can apply for an extract from the register of births for yourself or for another person who has given you a written declaration as a power of attorney. If you apply for an extract from the register of births for a minor child under the age of 18 or for a deceased person, no written power of attorney is required.

The extract includes:

  • name and surname,
  • date and place of birth,
  • personal identification number (PIN),
  • gender,
  • citizenship,
  • parents' details.

Application for an extract from the Register of Births

You can obtain an extract for yourself, for a minor child or for another person, provided you attach that person's power of attorney. The extract can be issued on a domestic form for use in Slovenia or on a multilingual international form for use abroad.
