Aktivnost: Entry in the Register of Physiotherapists

Before starting to perform work in healthcare independently, a physiotherapist must be entered in the register of physiotherapists.

Physiotherapists can perform work in healthcare independently after completing their internship and passing a professional examination. In order to work independently, in addition to the stated conditions, a physiotherapist must be entered in the register of physical therapy providers.

A person who wishes to be entered in the register of physical therapy providers can submit an application to be entered in the register to the ministry responsible for healthcare.

The Ministry issues a decision on entry in the register within 30 days after the submission of a complete application. A person is entered in the register as a physiotherapist on the date of service of the decision.

Application for entry in the register of physiotherapists

With the application, a person can apply to be entered in the register of providers of physical therapy at the ministry responsible for healthcare.
Possible manners of submission:
  • electronic
  • by mail
  • personally

Removal from the register

The grounds for removal from the register are as follows:

  • if the operator declares that he no longer wishes to be entered in the register;
  • on the death of the operator;
  • if the practitioner has been subject to a disciplinary measure for removal from the Register;
  • if the practitioner is subject to a temporary precautionary measure prohibiting him/her from practicing physiotherapy..

Nationals of a Member State of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation who pursue the activity or profession of physiotherapist in the territory of another Member State of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation (hereinafter referred to as: providers of physiotherapy services) who wish to carry out physiotherapy activities or professions in the Republic of Slovenia on a temporary or occasional basis shall, before the first temporary or occasional exercise of physiotherapy activities or professions and if there has been a significant change in circumstances since the commencement of the exercise of the activity in the Republic of Slovenia, notify the Ministry thereof.
