From the tender published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport on its website in January each year, choose the secondary school and secondary school programme that you would like to attend.

Conditions for enrolment in secondary school

If you have successfully completed all grades of elementary school, you can enrol in:

• a three-year secondary vocational school;
• a four-year professional or technical school; or
• a grammar school.

You may also enrol in a three-year vocational secondary school or four-year professional school if you have previously successfully completed a lower vocational school.

To enrol in a lower vocational school, it is sufficient:

• to have finished 7th grade of a nine-year elementary school if you have attended the elementary school for nine years;
• to have finished 6th grade of an eight-year elementary school if you have attended the elementary school for eight years and have completed compulsory schooling.

You may also enrol in lower vocational education if you have finished elementary school with an adapted programme with lower educational standards.

After selecting the school and the programme, fill in the application for enrolment and submit it to your elementary school or to the selected secondary school.

The secondary school with considerably more applications than places available shall adopt a decision on limited enrolment in agreement with the Minister of Education. List of schools with limited enrolment is published by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport on its websites. Schools with limited enrolment select the applied candidates on the basis of the points gained by the school performance in the 7th, 8th and 9th grade of elementary school, taking into consideration the final assessment of the compulsory subjects of the last three grades.
