Aktivnost: Loss, theft or misplacement of identity card
If you have lost your identity card, was stolen or is missing, you have to report it to any administrative unit within 8 days. If this happened abroad, you have to report it within 30 days at a diplomatic representation or consulate of the Republic of Slovenia, or within 8 days of your return to Slovenia at an administrative unit.
It is not sufficient to report the loss of your identity card only to the police. Upon your report, please describe the situation and date of loss, misplacement or theft in detail. The application for the issuance of a new identity card can be submitted immediately after your report.
Subsequent discover of the identity card
If you found your identity card, after reporting it as lost, please take it to an administrative unit where it will be destroyed and entered in the identity card findings register. The destroyed (pierced) identity card will be returned to you.
If you found your identity card on the day you reported it lost, we suggest you immediately report to the administrative unit. The validity of the identity card can only be restored on the same day.

You may verify, if an identity card was reported as lost, missing or stolen and is no longer valid. Enquiries are being carried out with a one-day delay. The latest information can be obtained at an administrative unit.
