The right to free access to the Slovenian labour market

Free access to the labour market allows employment, self-employment or work without a work permit.

The right to free access to the Slovenian labour market according Article 9 of the Employment and Work of Aliens Act is held by:

• family members of a Slovenian citizen who prove their right by a temporary residence permit for a family member;

• foreigners with a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Slovenia;

• refugees proving their right by a document issued on the basis of the law governing international protection;

• foreigners who have the status of a long-term resident in another EU Member State, after one year of residence in the Republic of Slovenia, while having a valid temporary residence permit in the Republic of Slovenia by which they also prove their right to free access to the labour market;

• foreigners of Slovenian origin up to the third successive generation who prove their right by a temporary residence permit for foreigners of Slovenian origin.
