agricultural land: Lease of agricultural land, forest or farm

An offer to lease (rent out) agricultural land, forest or farm must be submitted to the administrative unit in the area in which the agricultural land, forest or farm is located.

The subject of the lease is agricultural land with associated buildings, installations and permanent crops.

The lease of agricultural land, forest or farm owned by the Republic of Slovenia or a local community must be implemented in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Agricultural Land Act.

The law governing contractual obligations shall apply to agricultural land owned by natural persons and legal persons governed by private law.

The Republic of Slovenia or a local community which owns agricultural land, forest or farm and intends to lease agricultural land, forest or farm shall submit a lease offer to the administrative unit in the area where the agricultural land, forest or farm is located.

While the owner, the Republic of Slovenia or the local community, has the right to dispose of its real estate, it must, when leasing agricultural land, forest or farm, comply with the procedure for leasing such land, which is governed by the Agricultural Land Act. The land to be leased is published on the notice boards of administrative units and on the national eUprava portal.

The offer must include:

- information about the lessor: personal name and address of permanent or temporary residence or company and registered office;
- data on agricultural land or farm (parcel number, cadastral municipality, area);
- price; and
- any other conditions (shares, etc.).

The administrative unit in the area in which the agricultural land, forest or farm is located, must publish the lease offer on the notice board and the uniform state portal eUprava. The deadline for accepting the offer is 15 days from the date when the offer was published on the bulletin board of the administrative unit.

A person wishing to lease agricultural land, forest or farm must make a written notice of acceptance of the offer within 15 days of the date on which the offer was published on the notice board of the administrative unit.

If during this time no one accepts the offer, the lessor must repeat it if they still want to lease the agricultural land, forest or farm.
